About Mini Australian Shepherd

Written by someone who has actually lived with this breed, not assembled from a spec sheet.

Why This Site Exists

Search “Mini Australian Shepherd” and you’ll mostly find two kinds of pages: breeder websites trying to sell you a puppy, and generic breed-database entries that read like they were copied from a spec sheet. Neither answers the questions people actually have at 11pm after their new puppy has just herded the toddler into a corner for the third time that day.

This site was built to be the other kind of resource — written by someone who has lived with this breed, made the mistakes, and can tell you what actually works.

Who’s Behind This Site

Sarah Mitchell is a certified dog trainer and breed specialist with 11+ years of hands-on experience with herding breeds, with a particular focus on the Miniature American Shepherd. Based in Colorado, she has personally raised and trained more than a dozen Mini Aussies and helped hundreds of families through the process of finding, preparing for, and raising one.

Sarah holds a certification from the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC) and competes with her own Mini Aussie, Scout, in AKC agility trials across the Mountain West region.

Our Editorial Standards

Direct experience first. Recommendations on this site come from what’s actually been done or observed firsthand, not paraphrased from other blogs.

Review cycle. Pages are reviewed and updated on an ongoing basis as veterinary guidance and breed data change.
